Fashion takes on a deeper purpose as Project Lab Coat returns to New York Fashion Week on February 13, 2027, at 7 PM at Sony Hall, unveiling a new chapter dedicated to celebrating neurodiversity and championing autism acceptance. Through fashion, artistic expression and personal storytelling, the presentation will bring the experiences of autistic individuals and their families into the spotlight, highlighting individuality, identity and the importance of belonging.
Marking a significant milestone as an officially recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Project Lab Coat continues to redefine the relationship between fashion, medicine and philanthropy. By reimagining the traditional white lab coat as a canvas for creativity and personal narratives, the initiative brings designers, medical professionals and advocates together, creating a space where artistic vision meets social purpose and personal stories take center stage.
A Runway with a Greater Purpose
For Christina Kovacs, President and Director of Project Lab Coat and Director of Designer & Sponsor Relations at Runway 7, the initiative represents a deeply personal commitment shaped by her own experiences with serious illness.
“Fashion has an extraordinary ability to bring people together, and when we use that platform to foster understanding, amplify voices and build lasting connections, we’re accomplishing something far greater than a runway presentation,” said Kovacs.
The February 2027 presentation marks a new chapter for the organization, placing acceptance, representation and human connection at the heart of its mission.

$225,000 Raised and a Growing Cultural Impact
Since its founding in 2023, Project Lab Coat has helped raise more than $225,000 in support of important health and social causes, building a philanthropic legacy that extends well beyond the runway. Through collaborations with organizations including Mount Sinai, Global Lyme Alliance, Project Lyme, Lymelight Foundation, Head and Neck Cancer Alliance and Prevent Cancer Foundation, the initiative continues to bridge the worlds of fashion and medicine, bringing greater visibility to critical causes while uniting creative talent, medical professionals and advocates around a shared mission.
Its growing cultural presence has also brought together influential figures across fashion, music, sports and entertainment. Among those who have been part of Project Lab Coat’s journey are fashion designer Ally Hilfiger, singer Avril Lavigne, basketball star Elena Delle Donne, Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær, artist Ren Gill, singer Mike Bahía and television personality Olivia Flowers. Their connection to the initiative reflects the power of cultural influence to spark conversations, reach new audiences and bring important social causes into the public spotlight.

Building a Lasting Legacy Beyond the Runway
As Project Lab Coat enters its next chapter, its evolution into an independent nonprofit organization opens new opportunities to expand its reach and strengthen its philanthropic initiatives. With a growing network of medical institutions, creative professionals and advocates, the organization is building a platform where collaboration can lead to tangible opportunities for education, research and community support.
Looking ahead, Project Lab Coat aims to deepen these partnerships and bring new voices into its mission, creating opportunities for the fashion industry to engage with causes that extend beyond the traditional runway. Its vision is not simply to present collections, but to establish a lasting connection between creativity, philanthropy and the communities it seeks to serve.
