For some artists, the journey begins in their teenage years. For Patrick Nurthen, better known as Nurth_Nation, it began at 42, proving that passion doesn’t have an expiration date and that sometimes the most meaningful chapters of life are the ones you never saw coming.
Based on the Jersey Shore in New Jersey, Nurth_Nation is an emerging DJ and electronic music producer whose sound blends Melodic House, Progressive House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, and EDM. His performances combine emotional melodies, driving rhythms, and powerful drops, creating experiences designed to connect people through music.
What makes his story particularly compelling, however, isn’t simply the music. It’s the determination to pursue something entirely new at a stage in life when many people have already settled into their routines.
From Passion to Purpose
Music had always been an important part of Nurthen’s life, but his decision to step behind the decks came after discovering the emotional power of electronic music on a deeper level. One particular track, A Feeling I Miss by Matt Ryder and Cassian, helped inspire him to pursue DJing rather than remain simply a listener.
Determined to turn that inspiration into something real, he traveled to Mexico to attend Tulum DJ Academy, immersing himself in the art of DJing and the vibrant electronic music culture that has made Tulum an international destination. What began as an opportunity to learn quickly developed into something much bigger.
After graduating, Nurth_Nation began performing at venues including Delek Beach Club, MIA Beach Club, and Amante Tulum, gaining valuable experience in an environment celebrated for its electronic music scene. Returning to the United States, he continued building momentum, performing at venues and events throughout the Jersey Shore, New York, and Pennsylvania.
His growing résumé includes multiple appearances at LANA Pier Village in Long Branch, Nip N Tuck, a private event aboard the Miss Belmar, Red Bank Porchfest, and an upscale event at Five Falls Estate in Pennsylvania. Each performance helped shape his identity as an artist, strengthening his ability to read a crowd, create atmosphere, and deliver memorable musical experiences.
A Breakthrough at New York Fashion Week
In September 2026, just months after beginning his DJ journey, Nurth_Nation reached a major milestone when he joined Runway 7 Fashion during New York Fashion Week at the iconic Sony Hall in Times Square.
Performing across multiple days, he provided music backstage and served as a red-carpet DJ, bringing his signature electronic sound to an international fashion stage. The experience connected music, fashion, creativity, and personal ambition in a setting that introduced his work to a different audience.
For an artist who had only recently begun pursuing DJing professionally, being part of New York Fashion Week was more than another performance. It was a reminder of how quickly life can change when passion is met with action.
The experience also reinforced his belief that electronic music belongs far beyond traditional nightclubs, with the ability to elevate fashion shows, luxury experiences, brand activations, and creative events. Through his participation at Runway 7, Nurth_Nation continued exploring the possibilities of connecting his sound with different forms of artistic expression.
From New York Fashion Week to Opening for Massano
The momentum continued in October 2026 when Nurth_Nation won the DJ Lovers Club NYC DJ Competition, earning the opportunity to open for internationally recognized Melodic Techno artist Massano at Mr. Purple in New York City.
Performing high above Manhattan, with the iconic skyline stretching behind him and One World Trade Center visible in the distance, the experience marked one of the most significant milestones of his emerging career.
Beyond the excitement of sharing the stage with an artist he admired, however, the afternoon carried a deeply personal meaning.
For many years, Nurthen’s father worked at the original World Trade Center and was among those who survived the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Years later, standing behind the decks with One World Trade Center rising in the background, Nurthen wore his late father’s hat as a way of carrying a piece of him into this milestone.
As sunlight broke through the clouds over Manhattan, he couldn’t help but feel as though his father was right there beside him, sharing in a moment neither could have imagined years earlier.
What began as an opportunity to open for an internationally recognized artist became something far more personal. Family, memory, music, and the pursuit of a dream came together against a skyline that held extraordinary meaning for Nurthen and his family.
Only months earlier, he had been learning the fundamentals of DJing. Now, he was performing in the heart of New York City, experiencing a milestone that would stay with him for reasons extending far beyond music.
His growing recognition also reached electronic music media, with EDM House Network featuring Nurth_Nation among its “14 Rising DJs With More Than Just Music to Talk About,” highlighting his New York Fashion Week appearance and his opening performance for Massano.

While live performances have been the foundation of his rapid growth, Nurth_Nation is already looking toward the next chapter of his artistic journey.
He has begun producing original electronic music, working toward his debut Progressive House release and developing a sound that reflects the emotional energy and musical storytelling that first inspired him. Despite these milestones, the heart of his story remains remarkably simple: he started something new because he loved it.
