Runway 7’s casting call for models is open to emerging and experienced talent who meet the following requirements:

Frequently Asked Questions About Model Casting
Is there a height requirement?
No. There is no universal minimum height requirement for this casting call. Runway model height requirements may vary depending on the designer and show category, so each application is reviewed as a whole—including portfolio quality, walk video, proportions, confidence, and overall fit. Height alone does not determine whether a model is selected.
Are models compensated?
Selected models receive professional hair and makeup, access to gifting activations, official after-party access, and digital exposure. Financial compensation is not guaranteed through the model casting process. Any paid modeling agreement must be arranged directly between the model and the participating designer and is independent of Runway 7.
How soon will I hear back after applying?
Most applicants receive a decision within 3–5 business days. Applicants who have placed a merchandise order are given priority review.
What Is a Casting Call for Models?
A casting call for models is an audition where designers, modeling agencies, brands, photographers, and casting directors evaluate talent for upcoming runway shows, fashion campaigns, photo shoots, editorials, and commercial projects. It gives models the opportunity to present their appearance, personality, confidence, posing ability, and runway walk directly to industry professionals.
During a model casting call, applicants may be asked to provide measurements, digitals, a portfolio, previous experience, and contact information. Some castings are open calls that allow anyone who meets the requirements to attend, while others are private, invitation-only, or conducted virtually through photo and video submissions.
The purpose of a casting call is to determine whether a model’s look, skills, and overall presence match the creative direction of a specific project. Preparation, professionalism, and following the casting requirements can help applicants make a stronger first impression.
How Does the Runway 7 Model Casting Process Work?
The model casting process begins with an online application and continues with registration, casting access, and in-person attendance at Sony Hall. Here is how it works:

Download the official app to view your QR code and present it when attending the model casting at Sony Hall.
Skip the Line provides priority entry but does not guarantee selection for a runway show.
What Should I Submit With My Model Application?
To complete your model application, you must provide your personal and contact information, current measurements, physical details, preferred casting event, a recent profile photo, a headshot, and a runway walk video. Most application fields are required so the casting team can properly review your eligibility and category fit. Additional full-body photos, agency information, and merchandise order numbers are optional.
What Are the Benefits of Modeling at Fashion Week?
Selected models receive professional hair and makeup at the venue, access to exclusive model activations and gifting opportunities, digital exposure, and early invitations to the official NYFW after-party. Each model also receives one complimentary guest ticket for the show in which they are scheduled to walk, along with special discount codes for additional guests. The experience provides valuable runway modeling experience while helping models strengthen their portfolios and gain visibility within the fashion industry.
Do I Need Modeling Experience or Agency Representation to Apply?
No. Previous modeling experience or agency representation is not required to apply. This casting call for models is open to both emerging and experienced talent, including signed and unsigned models. Applications are reviewed based on submitted photos, measurements, runway walk video, availability, overall presentation, and alignment with each designer’s casting needs.
Are Plus Size Models Welcome?
Yes. Plus size models are welcome to apply through the same model casting process as all other applicants. Our casting call for plus size models considers the complete application, including photos, measurements, runway walk video, confidence, availability, and fit for participating designer categories. Selection is based on individual show requirements, not body size alone.
Where Are the Model Castings and Fashion Shows Held?
For New York Fashion Week, our casting call for models includes an in-person casting at Sony Hall in New York City. Located in the heart of Manhattan, this iconic venue creates an immersive setting where runway shows, creative expression, and live production come together. Applicants must attend the casting in person and present the QR code available through the official app. Locations for Miami and Los Angeles are shared once confirmed.

Can International Models Apply?
Yes. International models are welcome to submit a model casting application, provided they can attend the in-person casting and scheduled fashion show dates in the selected city. Applicants are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, and any required entry documents. Selection is based on the complete application, availability, runway walk video, measurements, and fit for participating designer categories.
How Will I Know If I Have Been Selected?
Applicants who are selected to move forward will be contacted directly using the email address or phone number provided in their model application. The notification will include casting updates, show availability, and any required next steps. Final runway selection depends on the in-person casting, participating designer requirements, and each model’s overall fit for the show.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MODEL KIT
Is Runway 7 charging models to attend casting?
No. The $14.99 fee is for the Runway 7 Model Kit, it doesn’t guarantee selection by a designer or a spot walking during New York Fashion Week. Every model who attends casting still has to audition and be selected based on the needs and decisions of our participating designers.
Why did Runway 7 create the Model Kit?
One of the biggest reasons is communication. Every season, thousands of models register and cast with us, and in previous seasons we relied heavily on the email addresses and phone numbers provided on applications and comp cards. Unfortunately, we repeatedly ran into incorrect phone numbers, outdated emails, missing information, or messages models simply didn’t see in time. At Runway 7, timing is critical : casting typically happens on Monday, with fittings beginning the very next day. That leaves an incredibly short window to communicate selections and fitting details. The Model Kit and Runway 7 App were built to solve that problem.
How does the Runway 7 App work after casting?
This is where the new system really shines. When you attend casting and a designer selects you, they can send you a request directly through the Runway 7 App. You’ll have approximately two hours to accept it. Once accepted, your selection is confirmed and you’ll automatically receive your fitting details and scheduled time for that designer. If the request isn’t accepted in time, the designer can move forward and select another model. That means no more wondering: “Did I get selected?” “Did they email me?” “What time is my fitting?” “Who am I walking for?” Everything you need is right there in the app.
Why is the response time so short?
Because our turnaround is extremely fast. When casting happens Monday and fittings begin Tuesday, designers need to finalize their lineups quickly. Models who cast with Runway 7 already know fittings take place the following day, so we encourage everyone to pay close attention to the Runway 7 App right after their audition. That’s where you’ll receive your information if selected.
I attend casting every season, but I never hear back. Why?
This is exactly why we needed a better system. In past seasons, a model might submit an application weeks or months before casting, and by the time NYFW arrived, some of that contact information was no longer accurate. There have been cases where a designer selected a model, but we couldn’t reach them in the short window between casting and fittings — forcing the designer to move on, sometimes to a standby model. With the Runway 7 App, we’re creating a more direct connection between model and designer, so a missed email or wrong phone number never costs someone an opportunity.
Does purchasing the Model Kit mean I'm guaranteed to walk?
No. The Model Kit does not guarantee selection. Designers still choose models based on their individual collection, sizing, aesthetic, runway requirements, and production needs. What the Model Kit does provide are the organizational and communication tools to make sure that if you are selected, you have a clear way to receive and respond to that opportunity.
What does the $14.99 Model Kit include?
Your Model Kit includes a Runway 7 model bag, a Runway 7 Sponsors item, your individual QR code, and access to the Runway 7 App and its model communication tools. The goal: better organization, faster communication, and a smoother casting and fitting experience.
