FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions About NYFW Press Passes
Who is eligible for press accreditation?
Press accreditation is available to qualified editors, journalists, reporters, writers, fashion correspondents, television representatives, and publication staff covering Fashion Week for editorial purposes.
Applicants must represent an established print, digital, broadcast, or news outlet and provide verifiable professional information. Freelance journalists may also be considered when they can confirm an assignment from a recognized publication.
Photographers and videographers seeking visual coverage access must apply through the separate media application.
I'm an independent creator without an outlet — can I still apply?
Independent creators without a publication or confirmed editorial assignment are generally not eligible for press accreditation.
Freelance journalists and writers may apply when they can provide evidence of professional editorial work, recent published articles, and a confirmed assignment from an established outlet. Applicants focused primarily on photography, video, social media content, or influencer coverage should use the appropriate media or creator application instead.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. All applicants must be at least 18 years old by the first day of the event.
Applicants may be asked to present a valid government-issued photo ID during check-in. The name on the identification must match the information submitted in the accreditation application.
How am I placed into runway shows?
Approved press may choose the event days they plan to attend and must communicate those dates in advance.
Access to individual runway shows is coordinated according to the applicant’s publication, professional role, proposed editorial coverage, confirmed attendance dates, venue capacity, and production schedule. Seating or designated press areas are assigned by the event team and may vary between programs.
Approval for the event does not guarantee a specific seat, show placement, designer interview, or backstage access.
Are travel expenses covered?
No. Credentialed attendees are responsible for their own airfare, ground transportation, accommodation, meals, parking, and other personal expenses.
Travel support is provided only when it is specifically included in a separate written partnership or editorial agreement. Receiving Fashion Week credentials does not automatically include reimbursement or complimentary lodging.
When will I hear back after applying?
Most complete applications receive a decision within 5–10 business days.
Review times may be longer during peak accreditation periods or when additional verification is required. Applicants should submit accurate publication details, professional links, and assignment information to help prevent delays.
Approved applicants will receive an email with attendance instructions, credential information, check-in details, and any required next steps.
Can I apply for more than one city?
Yes. Applicants may request editorial access for more than one Fashion Week city or season through the event selection area of the application.
Each city is reviewed separately based on publication relevance, professional credentials, proposed coverage, schedule availability, and venue capacity. Approval for one location does not automatically guarantee approval for another.
Applicants should select only the cities they genuinely plan to cover and communicate their intended attendance dates in advance.
How do I get a press pass for NYFW?
Complete the online accreditation form and provide accurate information about your publication, professional role, recent editorial work, and planned coverage.
Applications are reviewed individually to verify the outlet, assignment, and relevance of the proposed story. Approved applicants will receive a confirmation email with credential details, check-in instructions, and attendance information. Submitting the form does not guarantee approval.
What does a NYFW press pass include?
Approved applicants receive editorial access for their confirmed event dates, along with an official credential and lanyard.
Additional benefits may include access to the official schedule, press releases, selected editorial materials, event updates through the app, a press gift bag, networking opportunities, and the ability to request interviews with participating designers.
Interview access, social media exposure, and special permissions are subject to availability and prior coordination.
What documents are required for NYFW press credentials?
Applicants should provide enough information to verify their professional role and editorial assignment. This may include:
- Publication name and website
- Author profile, staff page, or professional portfolio
- Links to recent published articles or reports
- Assignment confirmation from an editor
- Contact information for the publication
- A brief description of the proposed coverage
Freelance journalists should include proof that they are working on behalf of a recognized outlet. Additional verification may be requested during the review process.
Is there a fee to apply for a NYFW press pass?
No. There is no application fee for press accreditation, and approved credentials are not sold.
Applicants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, transportation, meals, and other personal expenses unless those costs are covered under a separate written partnership agreement. Any unofficial request for payment should be reported to pr@runway7fashion.com
Can approved press interview designers or access backstage?
Approved journalists may request interviews with selected designers or brand representatives for articles, reports, blogs, or other editorial assignments.
Interview opportunities depend on designer availability, production schedules, and advance approval. Backstage access is not included with standard credentials and is only granted in limited cases for a specific approved interview or editorial assignment. Any special access must be confirmed before the event.
